Light of Day

Title: Light of Day

Client: Ballard Fine Art and Anthem Properties

Location: Burnaby, Canada - 2024

Light of Day was an art installation commissioned by Anthem Properties and Ballard Fine Art for Station Square in Burnaby, Canada. Located at a busy intersection full of commuters traveling by car, bike, foot, and SkyTrain, the artwork needed to be bold and highly visible from multiple heights and vantage points. In a city surrounded by natural beauty but often covered in grey rain clouds, I wanted to create a colorful reminder of the sunlight that always returns.

This public art installation spans 1920 Square Feet and was installed on the second story of a busy shopping destination. The custom illustration of the Burnaby skyline was printed onto 65 panels which are 3mm Alupanel.

Artist Statement:

“Beyond the crest of the darkest mountain ranges lies the most spectacular city of glass. Reflecting the vibrant colors of the sunset, the skyline comes alive just like the water winding through it. By majestic river and peaceful seas, the towers of Burnaby rise like diamonds, shining from the light of day.”
